Mr. Chee Kok Leong joined the Volleyball Singapore Board in August 2018 as Treasurer and serves his 2nd term from 16 September 2020 as Vice President (High Performance). During his time with Volleyball Singapore, Mr. Chee focused on building the Beach Volleyball high performance capabilities and pipeline development. He is instrumental in collaborating with Singapore Sports School (SSP) for our first beach volleyball athlete in the SSP during his tenure. Mr. Chee also contributed as the team manager for 2019, 2021 and 2023 SEA Games and various regional beach volleyball competitions.
Due to personal reasons, Mr. Chee has informed the Board that he will not be seeking re-election at the upcoming Volleyball Singapore AGM in September 2023.
To ensure proper handover and that our beach volleyball athletes and coaches continue to stay focused on their training plans, the Board has asked Mr. Chia Min Chong, Secretary-General to take on the additional role as interim Vice President (High Performance), with support from Ms. Jean Lau Pui Kuan (Assistant Treasurer).
Ensuring continuity in the management of our high-performance programmes is a key priority for the Association. As such, the proper transition of responsibilities is paramount to ensure there is minimum disruption with retiring board members. Mr. Chee has agreed to support the transition until the end of his term. The transition will take place progressively over the next few months.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Chee for the contributions he made to Volleyball Singapore and the volleyball fraternity in Singapore. We would also like to thank Mr. Chia and Ms. Lau for stepping up to take on the additional responsibilities during the transition period.
